About This Recall
Maytag Corporation, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Samsung Electronics, voluntarily recalled approximately 518,000 front-loading washing machines due to a fire hazard.
Water leakage from the washer’s drum could drip onto electrical connections of the thermal sensor, creating an electrical short that could ignite the control board. At the time of the recall, Maytag had received reports of 118 incidents, including property damage to surrounding areas in some cases.
